Attended Congressional hearings and briefings in both the U.S. House and Senate. Wrote memo updates on committee hearings for the office staffers. Drafted outreach letters to encourage bipartisan signing of legislation. Researched background information on various legislation and issue areas for staffers.
Collected and analyzed NYC supermarket data on wheelchair accessibility, SNAP acceptance, product discount, and product delivery to create a city wide database for the elderly. Researched and collected evidence of derelict bikes in the city to contribute to the Department of Sanitation public hearing. Supported staff members with on-going research projects and constituent advising by answering emails and calling constituents for case followups.

Worked with the American Red Cross to oversee and mentor Red Cross Clubs across all NYC high schools. Spearheaded multiple events including the Nepal Teen Open Mic Night and the Disaster Preparedness Scavenger Hunt which brings in participants from over 15 different high schools in the city.

Managed a cohort of mentors and mentees and helped design sessions for professional and academic development. Led program sessions and facilitated discussions between mentors and mentees and different mentee-mentor groups within each session.
Contacting campus organizations and academic departments to secure funding and collaborations. Reaching out to local businesses and organizations for sponsorships and advertising partnerships. Prepared a budget proposal for the school’s campus organizations funding board and secured $7,500 for the month’s events.
Worked as a volunteer at the EPA deemed superfund site with the non-profit Gowanus Conservancy Canal. Helped create and till nutrient dense compost so that it can aid the reintroduction of native plant species. Collected seeds for the next year and helped plant flowers to reintroduce native species and bring back native wildlife to the area.
I enjoy learning new languages. My native languages are English and Cantonese Chinese, but I am proficient in Spanish and Mandarin as well.
